Gestern war ein sehr entspannter Tag fuer uns. Dies war auch gut so, da sich unsere Beine ziemlich stark mit Muskelkater gemeldet haben. Und so haben wir uns mit dem Stadtbus von Bariloche auf zum Kilometer 10,5 gemacht um Marco - einen Studienkollegen - zu besuchen. Er ist seit 3 Monaten wieder hier in Argentinien, zusammen mit seiner Frau Patricia und seiner 5 jaehrigen Tochter Aileen. Wir hatten einen wunderschoenen Nachmittag am Strand vom See Nahuel Napi und richtig gutes Essen - selbstgemachte Salsa, Empanadas und einen tollen Salat.
Marco betreut hier in Bariloche ein Hilfsprojekt, dass armen Familien einen Kindergartenplatz fuer deren Kinder zur Verfuegung stellt und bei deren Ausbildung weiterhilft. Doch lest hier selber etwas mehr: http://www.reach.ch/html-deutsch/projekte.html
Heute ging es fuer uns per Flugzeug weiter in den Sueden nach El Calafate. Mit einem ersten Blick auf die grossen Gletscher und die strahlend blauen Seen sind wir gut gelandet. Der erste Eindruck von El Calafate: Eine kleine Stadt am See, mit weissen Daechern, super freundlichen Menschen und eine sehr nette Atmosphaere. Wir organisieren jetzt noch unsere Treks am Fitz Roy und hoffen, dass der Streik in Chile dann wieder beendet ist, wenn wir zurueck sind. Denn aktuell kommen keine Touristen in den Torres del Paine Nationalpark oder auch hinaus. Drueckt uns die Daumen, dass wir wieder soviel Glueck haben wie in La Paz und die Auswirkungen der Streiks (wegen wegfallender Subventionen des Staates auf die Gaspreise, d.h. die Gaspreise gehen ca. 70% hoch) an uns vorueber gehen.

Our last day in Bariloche was very relaxing. We also needed to rest our legs a bit after 7 days of trekking within 8 days. So we took the bus out to meet Marco - a friend of Katrin's who now lives in Bariloche with his wife and daughter. We spent the afternoon together at the lake with beautiful sunshine and the first feeling of Patagonian wind.

The following day we took the plane down to El Calafate and had a first glimpse of the glaciars! El Calafate has a bit of "end of the world" feeling already. This is our base for some treks in the Fitz Roy National Park.
Currently our trip to Torres del Paine is questionable because there are currently severe strikes in Chile due to the increase of gas prices. All roads are blocked and about 1.500 tourists are stuck in the Torres del Paine National Park with no way in or out and supplies running low. We'll see how the situation develops in the next days but unfortunately it looks like we will have to cancel the 10-day circuit trek because we can't get to the park in time.
