City time again - so we took the bus from Copacabana to La Paz. This adventure costs 25 Bolivianos per person - about 3.20 US$ for a 4 hour bus ride in Bolivian Business Class Bus. The bus was safe and the drive sane so the trip was uneventful. Still it was very interesting!
First things we observed were tons of young children on the side of the road either begging for money or throwing stones at the bus. The second interesting fact of the bus ride was that we had to take a ferry across Lake Titicaca. This requires all passengers to get off the bus and take the passenger ferry while the bus is ferried on a rather simple looking barge. And finally before entering La Paz we were all greeted by "El Comandante" - Che Guevara in the outskirts of La Paz.
We will be in La Paz until December 26th. Then we move on the the Salar de Uyuni.

Heute sind wir fuer 25 Bolivianos pro Person (ca. 2,50 EUR) mit dem Bus von Copacabana nach La Paz gefahren - in einem Ejecutivo, also Business Class, Bus. Der Bus war also fuer Bolivianische Verhaeltnisse sehr gut in Schuss und der Fahrer hatte einen ueberraschend vernuenftigen Europaeischen Fahrstil, so dass die Fahrt an sich recht unspektakulaer war.
Einige interessante Beobachtungen gibt es dennoch zu berichten. Zu allererst faellt einem auf, dass unheimlich viele junge Kinder am Strassenrand stehen und entweder nach Geld betteln oder den Bus mit Steinen bewerfen. Dann kam noch eine Querung des Titicacasees hinzu. Hierfuer mussten alle Passagiere den Bus verlassen und mit der Passagierfaehre uebersetzen, waehrend der Bus mit einem etwas rustikal wirkenden Motorfloss uebersetzt wurde. Zu guter letzt wurden wir alle dann kurz vor La Paz von "El Comandante" - Che Guevara begruesst.
